Superyacht Atom Survey
Atom is a 33.8-meter displacement motor yacht built by Inace Yachts in 2007 and extensively refitted in 2023. Designed with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, she is engineered for reliable long-range cruising. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, Atom cruises comfortably at 10 knots, reaches a top speed of 13 knots, and offers an impressive transatlantic range of 5,182 nautical miles, thanks to fuel tanks with a total capacity of nearly 40,000 liters.
Her interior, designed by Kirschstein Designs Ltd., accommodates up to 9 guests across 4 cabins: a master suite, two VIP cabins, and one twin. The vessel also carries up to 7 crew to ensure smooth and personalized service during any voyage.
Onboard amenities include a deck jacuzzi, full air conditioning, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a selection of water toys such as Jet Skis, paddleboards, and snorkeling gear. A 6-meter Invictus FX Tender provides easy access to shore.
In September 2023, I was commissioned to carry out a full pre-purchase condition survey on Atom on behalf of an international private client. The inspection was conducted over two full days, with the support of a specialized team of four professionals.
On the first day, we performed the onshore inspection, focusing on the hull (internal and external), structural elements, electrical and hydraulic systems, main engines, and generators. Each component was carefully assessed and documented to determine its current condition and identify any early signs of wear or inefficiency.
The second day was dedicated to sea trials, during which we tested all navigation and onboard systems, including electronics, steering and engine controls. We also verified a range of comfort-related accessories such as air conditioning, the washing machine, dishwasher, and other onboard utilities.
The survey revealed a number of technical issues that required attention before final acceptance. These were addressed by the seller in the following six months. Once the repairs and improvements were completed, I conducted a follow-up inspection to ensure that all work had been carried out to a professional standard, in full compliance with industry best practices and the buyer’s expectations.
