In this case, the vessel had suffered a fire in the engine room caused by a short circuit from the gangway’s electric motor.
The engine room invaded by smoke saw many of the systems perished.
The boat in question is of absolute value, so it was not tolerable for the owner to have remnants of the incident, i.e. soot, smoke residue and perished systems.
The yard was able, with a job done to perfection, revisiting every single inch of the engine room, to bring the boat back to its best condition in terms of both aesthetics and efficiency. My job was to support and supervise the correct execution of both the aesthetic components and the systems and engines.
The final inspection and subsequent sea trial performed by me and my team of mechanics convinced the owner of the yard’s good work.
