The pre-purchase survey is a crucial step in your journey towards worry-free sailing. Here’s how we handle it:
Preliminary Study
Our survey begins with a careful examination of the material provided by the broker or owner. The sales sheet, if carefully compiled, gives us an in-depth look at the condition of the boat and any past interventions.
Planning the Survey
We prepare the inspection by carefully considering both the boat and the accessories to be evaluated. At this stage we identify the need to involve other specialists such as shipwrights for wooden boats, motorists for electronic diagnostics, sailmakers, riggers and plumbers, if necessary.
Collaboration with the Best
To ensure a comprehensive evaluation, we collaborate with leading mechanical workshops, especially if the boat is motorised or has several engines. If the seller has declared major work, we get in touch with colleagues and shipyards to verify documentation and the correct execution of operations.
Detailed Analysis
The pre-purchase survey focuses on a detailed examination of the hull, structural components, hydraulic and electrical systems, engine and transmission, and, if present, the sail rig, equipment and accessories. Tests are carried out both on land and in the water, and for sailing yachts a masthead climb is included.
If required, we can also carry out non-destructive testing with certified laboratories.
Full Report and Future Availability
At the conclusion of the technical tests, we provide a detailed report so you can get to know the boat in depth. Our commitment to you does not stop here; we remain at your disposal for any future suggestions, both in technical and maritime matters.
At the end of the technical trials I will issue a report as detailed as possible so that the potential buyer can get to know the boat right away.
On this page you will find some examples of yacht surveys. Obviously, the content and format of this document can be customised to suit your needs.
