Renzo Piano's Kirribilli Survey

Kirribilli is an 18.6-metre sloop designed by italian superstar architect Renzo Piano in collaboration with Vismara Yacht Design, and built in the Mas shipyards in Como in 2001. Inspired by the legendary J-Classes of the 1930s, the boat combines sober, essential lines with advanced construction technologies: hull and deck in glass-epoxy sandwich, a thick ‘shell’ monocoque structure and exposed structural plates on the deck.
With a beam of 4.8 m and a displacement of 14 tonnes, Kirribilli offers elegance and hydrodynamic precision, ensuring smooth sailing on light waves while maintaining a racing soul. The 30-foot mast, unobstructed linear deck and separate twin wheelhouse reflect Renzo Piano’s vision: a refined boat, fast and easily handled even by small crews.
The choice of materials, the timeless design and the minimalist approach oriented towards functionality make Kirribilli a unique boat, a true “piece of art”, as witnessed by the trade magazines.

Surveyed in 2023 for a Danish buyer, Kirribilli now cruises the Mediterranean with her new owner, used primarily for family sailing while retaining the soul of a boat built for serious passage-making.
Instantly recognizable thanks to her distinctive green hull, Kirribilli was built using cutting-edge techniques for her time, showcasing design choices that remain remarkably modern even today. More than two decades after her launch, she remains in excellent structural condition, a testament to both the quality of her construction and the vision behind her design.
Under sail, she continues to offer a level of refinement, responsiveness, and balance that very few yachts can match — a true sailing machine with timeless character.
